Dear Members, Employees and Patrons of Waubeeka,Four years ago, our family purchased Waubeeka because we were attracted to the spectacular Waubeeka setting and attached to the wonderful community. During that time, we made significant improvements including the redesign and renovation of much of the golf course. We appreciate your patience during these renovations and hope that you have truly enjoyed the improvements.

Over the past six months, our family has been re-evaluating our ownership of Waubeeka. Changing priorities for our family, and the difficulties of being a long distance owner have led us to the difficult decision to sell.

We have enjoyed the time we have owned Waubeeka, playing in tournaments at Waubeeka, and making a lot of friends among the Waubeeka faithful. I have greatly enjoyed being involved with the redesign and renovation of the golf course – one of the best experiences of my life. Waubeeka is truly a special place, and our family feels blessed to have owned it. Hopefully we are leaving it in better condition than we found it.

We believe the sale could take some time and, during this process, we want to stay committed to those who have long been committed to Waubeeka. We will operate as usual for the full 2012 season, and for as long as the sale process lasts. Greg Tudor and the maintenance staff have kept the course in fantastic condition in recent years. That, and the great service of Mark Mills and the Waubeeka staff will continue. We will be focused this year on conducting our operation with excellence, both for you, and to make it attractive for Waubeeka’s future ownership to continue to operate it as a golf course for many years to come.

That is our hope and expectation.

Massachusetts Amateur Public Links Championship Qualifier to be hosted by Waubeeka on June 26th! We successful hosted the 2011 Mid-Am Qualifier and Waubeeka is thrilled to host another MGA Tourney in 2012!

Handicap FAQ – Tee It Forward

Q. What is this “Tee It Forward” program that I have been hearing about recently?

A. To help golfers have more fun on the course and enhance their overall experience by playing from a set of tees best suited to their abilities, The PGA of America and the USGA have partnered to support“Tee it Forward“.

By playing from forward tees, amateur golfers have the chance to play the course at the same relative distance as a touring professional would over 18 holes. The playing field is leveled by giving golfers the opportunity to play from distances that are properly aligned with their abilities.

With many more golfers hitting approach shots with 6- and 7-irons instead of hybrids and long irons, their chances for enjoyment increase. Also, playing from forward tees should result in fewer overall shots, shorter distance traveled on each hole, and potentially, fewer lost balls.

Did You Know?
Here in Massachusetts, there is an official end to the golf season.

The season end date for the Bay State is November 15. No rounds played in Massachusetts during the off season (November 15 through March 31) may be counted towards your handicap index. Any rounds played in an area that is in season (i.e. Florida, Arizona) must, according to Rule 6-2, be posted.

Although rounds played in Massachusetts during the off season may not be counted towards your handicap index, you will still receive e-revisions on the 1st and 15th of each month. Massachusetts has a total of eight “off season” revisions. The official start of the 2012 handicap season is April 1, 2012.
